Singer-songwriter NIve has released his first single “Who I Am” today (May 10).
An ambient pop rock track with a folksy slant, “Who I Am” is an inspiring song about knowing one’s own self-worth and not changing for anyone else.
Based in Los Angeles, NIve, also known as Jisoo Park, made his mark on the music world as a songwriter ahead of the release of his first song; he recently co-wrote “Beautiful Goodbye” by EXO’s Chen, which fronted the K-pop star’s first-ever solo album, April, and a Flower. The EP debuted at No. 3 on the World Albums chart in April.
NIve’s first song was released alongside a powerful music video that follows a variety of individuals around Seoul as they feel down and gain inspiration from his performance of “Who I Am,” as the artist sings backed by graceful dancers. It ends with him singing soulfully in a forest.
“Who I Am” was written by NIve with Blair Taylor and Michael Jefferson, while Hyuk Shin of 153 Entertainment served as executive producer.
“I wrote this song with the hope that it would empower people to accept who they are and be liberated by embracing their feelings and emotions, whether they’re good or bad,” NIve tells Billboard.
